about referrals

Discover the Alamance Academy Day Difference

Alamance Academy Day (AAD) welcomes referrals from families, schools, clinicians, care coordinators, and community partners seeking a supportive, structured educational setting for middle school boys. Our nonprofit microschool is designed for boys in grades 5–8 who are struggling to thrive in traditional environments and who benefit from small class sizes, individualized academic instruction, and embedded counseling support. We work collaboratively with referring partners and families to determine program fit, coordinate with existing services, and support students’ academic, emotional, and social growth. Completion of a referral form begins a thoughtful intake process focused on alignment between student needs and our school-based support model.

FORMS

Complete the referral form and rerurn to Virgilla Curmon at virgilla@alamanceacademyday.org.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please email Virgilla at virgilla@alamanceacademyday, if you cannot find an answer to your question below or with any additional questions you may have.

Alamance Academy Day serves boys in grades 5-8.

Most referrals come from school staff, clinicians, or DSS/DJJ partners who see a student struggling in a traditional setting. We start with a referral form, followed by a conversation with the family and referring partner to assess fit and support needs.

We’re not a treatment facility or court-ordered placement program, but we regularly collaborate with DJJ- and DSS-involved youth when education stability is the goal and the placement is appropriate.

No. We complement outside therapy. Students may continue with external clinicians, and we coordinate as appropriate with consent.

Safety is part of our intake review. We assess whether a student’s needs can be supported in a school-based setting. If a student requires a higher level of care, we’ll say so and help redirect the referral.

That’s a success. We support transitions back to larger schools, alternative placements, or next-step programs when students are ready.

Yes.
