COURSE OFFERINGS & TESTING INFORMATION

At Alamance Academy Day, we nurture young minds with our comprehensive curriculum that fosters critical thinking and a global perspective in order that our students are thoroughly equipped to handle a challenging high school curriculum and make informed personal choices.

2025-26 Creative Curriculum Courses:

Drama & Performance Art

Drama & Performance Art introduces students to acting through reading, memorizing, performing, and creating dramatic works. Students read selected plays and movie scenes, study powerful performances by accomplished actors, and bring characters to life through voice, movement, and expression. Students gain confidence, improve reading fluency, and develop communication skills while working toward live performances and original dramatic writing.

Foundational & Money Math

Foundational & Money Math builds strong math confidence by connecting essential math skills to real-life situations students encounter every day. Students strengthen computation and problem-solving skills while learning how math is used in measurement, ordering, estimating, patterns, space, and monetary transactions.  The course emphasizes practical application, hands-on problem solving, and real-world scenarios, helping students see math as a useful tool rather than an abstract concept.

Graphic Literature and Analysis

Graphic Literature and Analysis is designed to strengthen reading comprehension, critical thinking, and writing through engaging, student-centered reading experiences. Students read graphic novels and other age-appropriate texts, then discuss them in structured conversations and write thoughtful reviews that explain opinions with evidence.

International Culture & Travel Studies

International Culture & Travel Studies explores geography, historical context of cultural traditions, how cultures around the world use various traditions to mark important transitions in life—especially the movement from childhood into adolescence for boys around age 13. Students investigate different societies and reflect on how they teach responsibility, identity, and belonging. The course prepares students not only to learn about culture, but to experience it directly through travel, observa

Literacy through Music

Literacy Through Music uses music as a gateway to stronger reading, discussion, and writing skills. Students read about influential musicians, explore a wide range of music genres, analyze lyrics as texts, and write original lyrics of their own. Music becomes both the subject and the tool for developing comprehension, vocabulary, critical thinking, and self-expression.

Music Production Studio

Music Production Studio introduces students to the creative and technical process behind making music in today’s world. Students learn how iconic producers shape sound, emotion, and culture while exploring the evolution of music technology. Through hands-on use of digital tools, collaboration, and guided instruction, students create original music and present their work in a final showcase.

Sports & Motion Science

Sports Science teaches students the “why” behind athletic performance by combining science with sport-specific movement. Every class includes physical activity, hands-on investigation, and real-world application using game clips and professional athlete examples. Students learn to watch sports with sharper eyes and train with smarter habits by understanding biomechanics, conditioning, nutrition, and recovery.

Vocational Enrichment, Life Skills & Service Learning

This rotating course prepares students for life beyond the classroom by connecting career exploration, real-world skills, and service to others. Students are introduced to a wide range of career paths, build practical life and social skills, and learn how leadership and service work together to strengthen communities.
